Co-op Mode
Co-op uses the core rules as its foundation. This page covers only what is different from the core.
Team Structure
- All Players are on the same team
- Players may not damage other Players
- Makri and hostile PPCs are enemies unless explicitly stated otherwise
Victory Conditions
Each Co-op episode defines its own objective. Common examples:
- Defeat all Makri
- Survive a set number of rounds
- Complete a narrative objective
Completing the episode objective results in a win and progression to the next episode.
Player State: Downed → Revive → Dead
Downed
When a Player's Character reaches 0 HP, they enter the Downed state. A Downed Player:
- Cannot move, take Actions, play cards, spend Ether, gain HP, or gain Ether
- Remains on the board at the tile where they went Down
- May still control any PPCs they already control — those PPCs act normally on that Player's PPC turn
- Cannot be targeted by Makri
The Urgency Mechanic
There is no round timer on being Downed. However, being Downed has a mounting cost:
At the start of each of your turns while Downed:
- Discard 1 equipped Persistent card of your choice
- If you have no equipped cards remaining, discard 1 card from your hand instead
- If you have no equipped cards and no cards in hand, no further penalty applies
This creates urgency without requiring players to track round counts. The longer you stay Down, the more you lose.
Revive
Revive is an Action available to any Player.
To Revive a Downed Player:
- The reviving Player must be adjacent to the Downed Player
- The reviving Player uses their Action to Revive
- The Downed Player immediately returns to play with 5 HP
There is no dice roll. No revival window timer. An ally can revive you at any point as long as they can reach you and spend their Action.
A Downed Player cannot be healed back to life by card effects that say "heal a target X HP." The only way to bring a Downed Player back is the Revive Action from an adjacent ally.
Dead
A Player becomes Dead only if their team fails the episode objective, or if a specific episode rule defines a permanent death condition.
In standard Co-op, Downed is the floor — there is no permanent individual death mid-episode.
Failure Conditions
The group loses if:
- All Players are Downed simultaneously, or
- An episode-specific failure condition is met
