Frequently Asked Questions

Written the way players actually ask. Updated after every playtest session.

What happens when my character dies?

In Co-op and PVP, reaching 0 HP puts you in the Downed state — not immediately out of the game. While Downed you cannot move, act, play cards, spend Ether, or gain HP. You can still control your PPCs. Makri cannot target you. An adjacent teammate can use their Action to Revive you — you return to play with 5 HP instantly, no dice roll. There is no round timer, but every turn you stay Downed you must discard 1 equipped Persistent card. Once your equipped cards are gone, discard from your hand. See Co-op: Player State.

How does attacking work?

Declare a valid enemy target within your Range. Roll your Attack Die and add any modifiers from weapons, equipped cards, or abilities. All attacks hit — the roll determines damage, not whether you succeed. Apply the damage pipeline: damage dealt → subtract reduction → result is damage taken → subtract from HP. See Combat.

Can I move after I attack?

Yes. Move and Action can happen in either order during your Main Phase — Move then Action, or Action then Move. You cannot split movement around an action (partial move → attack → partial move is not allowed).

What happens when I land on a tile someone already revealed?

Nothing. Once a tile is revealed it is exhausted. Landing on it again has no effect. The resource was claimed when it was first flipped.

Does my PPC act on my turn or separately?

Separately. PPCs act after your Clean Up Phase — in the PPC Turns phase. They do not act during your Main Phase. You cannot move or use PPCs during your Main Phase.

What is a PPC?

PPC stands for Player-Piloted Creature. It's any non-Character entity you control — most commonly a Monster you drew from a Makri Tile. Your PPC is not your Character. It acts after your turn ends, in stand-shape order.

Can damage be reduced to zero?

Yes. Damage reduction stacks from all sources and can bring damage taken down to 0. There is no minimum damage.

How many cards can I hold at once?

Maximum hand size is 7 cards. At the end of your turn during Clean Up, you discard down to 7 if you're over. Equipped cards are not in your hand — they don't count toward the 7-card limit.

Do I roll my movement die every turn?

No. You roll your Movement Die only when you choose to move during your Main Phase, immediately before moving. If you don't move, you don't roll.

Can a card override the rulebook?

Yes. Card text always takes priority over this compendium. If a card says something that contradicts a rule here, follow the card. This is the first Golden Rule.

Can I end my movement early?

Yes. Your Movement Die result is the maximum — you don't have to use all of it. Unused movement is simply lost.

What happens when my Relic Deck runs out?

This rule is not yet finalized. Options being considered: reshuffle your discard pile into a new deck, the draw simply fails, or a fatigue penalty applies. This will be updated when locked.

If I'm Dead, do I lose control of my Monsters?

No. A Dead Player continues to control all PPCs they already control. Those PPCs continue to act on what used to be that Player's PPC turn. Once all your PPCs are removed from the board, you are fully out of the game.

Can I trade cards with other players?

Trading rules are not yet finalized. Open questions include whether Trade is an Action, whether it requires adjacency, and whether it's allowed in PVP. This will be updated when locked.
